The Fifty-First Year

Coronet Tournament -- Principality of the Mists

September 23-25, 2016 (AS LI)

Ed Levin County Park (Elm Group Area),
Milpitas, CA

From The Page (September, 2016):

Their Highnesses, Geoffrey and Catherine, welcome all to a grand tournament to decide their successors.

As per Their Highnesses’ wishes, Coronet shall be fought in a Crucible format. There will be no non-contenders in the lists. All fighters in the lists must take the oath that they are prepared to reign. There will be a potluck on the list field in the evening, with Their Highnesses supplying the meat. Please bring sides & desserts.

Arts & Sciences: Practical Science - A savory dish. Feel free to make extra for the Princess’ tea. You will need written documentation for this competition.

Technical Science - Headgear - any media/time/place. Textile, metal, leather -- if you wear it on your head, it qualifies.

If you’re interested in judging, need pointers to examples, or need help writing documentation, please contact Gianetta del Bene. The entry forms are online, in the Mists Arts & Sciences Facebook group. Please feel free to fill them out in advance.

Silver Spoon: The Silver Spoon competition is “anything from the opera of Bartolomeo Scappi.” The time and location of the competition is TBD closer to the event.

Saltatoris Nebulorum: We’ll be teaching Danse de Cleves for the Saltatoris Nebulorum at Mists Coronet. La Danse de Cleves is a stately 15th century dance from the courts of Burgundy. Competition will probably be near the fighting field, about 5th round or after the tournament.
