First Cynaguan Princess in her Own Right invested at Summer Investiture

Sir Mari Alexander was the victor of the May 26, 2012 Coronet Tournament in the Principality of Cynagua, Kingdom of the West. Sir Mari was inspired by Master Brocc of Alderden.

Although this is not the first time the West has seen a Princess in Her Own Right, this is the first time that the Principality of Cynagua has Invested one. This historic event was attended by 368 gentles. Most were from within the Kingdom's borders, but quite a few made the journey from other Kingdoms, including CAID, Middle, An Tir, and East.  We were also graced with the presence of Royalty from Artemesia.

Sir Mari was escorted into Investiture Court by Duchess Sir Bryne McClellin and Viscountess Sir Maythen Gervaise, Duchess of Houghton (both Viscountesses in Their own right). Viscountess Sir Maythen holds the distinction of being the first female Ruler in Her Own Right, and well as being one of the earliest female members of the Order of Chivalry.

Sir Mari was heralded into Investiture Court by Her husband, Count Sir Gemini de Grendel, with music provided by Baron Thomas Bordeaux. Her banner was borne by THL Helga Skjaldmere.

Master Brocc was heralded into Investiture Court by Mistress Anastacia Grindstead, with music provided by Baron Vincenzo Saracini, and his banner was borne by Baroness Aine ingen Fhinn.

Their Highnesses followed Their Investiture with a journey to the cool climes of Oertha, and then participated in the battles and revelry at Pennsic War. They continued to Progress throughout Their Principality, attending as many events as They were able and keeping Their Court on their toes.

Video of the Investiture can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/XewCcAJZ6Fs

And remember: if you call Them Prince and Princess, take a drink!

Comments from the Populace:
The drinking game can be attributed to myself and Michaeila MacCullum. The day They were invested as Lady and Lord of the Swan, we were at the back of court, listening as the herald struggled to say "Lady and Lord" as opposed to "Lord and Lady". We decided that, for the duration of the reign, any time ANYONE reverted to "Prince and Princess", you had to take a drink. -- Mistress Alizan Dela Fontaine
