The Forty-Sixth Year

Pirates Revel -- Eskalya

October 22, 2011 (AS XLVI)

Hope Lutheran Church,
Anchorage, AK

From The Page (October, 2011):

Ahoy me hearties! A call goes out to pirates, buccaneers, privateers, sailors of the Royal navy and wenches. All are to gather at the Salty Dog Tavern to engage in pirate amusements, bawdy and bold and take a break from the rigors of the sea. There will be pirate worthy games the likes of Tac Tac Bones, Pirate trivia, and Liar's dice and other diversions too numerous to mention. Bring yer banners and yer crews but leave yer weapons on yer ships. Competitions aplenty: best crew, best pirate persona (garb); best pirate shirt; Bardicsongs and/or tales of the sea. Cooks-Best food with a pirate name. Feast is pot luck with the Salty Dog furnishing the Bird (Jamaica Mistake Chicken-Bad Polly) Potluck arranged according to the stars you sail under (zodiac): Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces: Breads, spreads and cheeses; Aries, Taurus, Gemini: Vegetables; Cancer, Leo, Virgo: Starches (rice, pasta); Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius: Desserts. Or your entry for the cooking contest.
