From The Page (January, 2011):
This year there will be a greater variety of fighting, both single combat and melee, than in years past. Starting at 11:00 AM, the chivalry present will be administering a "ubelted tourney". This will not be a typical tournament, with specific pairings or eliminations. Instead, for a period of 2 hours, unbelted fighters will be asked to join the chivalry in single combat. The particulars of the format are yet to be determined. But in general terms, there will be lots of fighting, and prizes awarded for various feats accomplished by imbelted fighters over the two hours. This new aspect of War Collegium is an effort to provide more free time (free of scheduling conflicts often present at Crown or Coronation events) for fighting, learning, and the general advancement of the chivalric arts that we practice in this kingdom. After the structured, single combat portion of the day is complete, we will break for lunch. During lunch Viscountess Ysabella will open the "soup kitchen" to serve food to those present for a suggested $3- $5 donation. Following lunch, we will roll into war/melee scenarios intended to provide all those fighters and marshals present, an opportimity to hone their skills for the coming war season, starting with Estrella War. This will be a fastpaced portion of the day, as we roll through scenarios. Although specific plans have not been made for rapier scenarios, it is our intention to expand the venue to accommodate rapier fighting at this event. Please stay posted to the various online forums for more information on this. As a reminder, NONE of this will have the desired success without a significant number of participants. Each and every one of you has the opportunity to contribute to the renown of the kingdom. Through these efforts, we can absolutely improve ourselves as chivalric combatants, on both the tournament field and the war field.
