El Cerrito, CA
From The Page (November, 2010):
The holidays are coming, and so is the Annual Beaconsgate Boar Hunt. In addition to the Hunt during the day, we will have many activities within the hall (dancing, singing, music, games) for non-fighters and tired fighters. We will also have a stag hunt for the rapier fighters if we have hunters and a marshal -- please contact the autocrat to volunteer! Please plan to bring something for your lunch if you are coming on site early. A Boar Hunt is a fighting activity, with fighters armed with two maces playing the part of the Boar. Hunters are armed with spears, and hounds with daggers. There are also unarmored dogs who seek out the boars and bark when they are discovered - this can be a great role for a mature child accompanied by a responsible adult. The Head Cooks for the Feast are Duchesses Letitia and Eilis. The menu will be announced in the December issue of the Page, and will be available on the Province website. Please contact Eilis at (email address omitted) if you have any concerns about allergies, or if you are a vegetarian/ non-eater of pork products and are planning to attend the feast. The feast will begin around 5pm, subject to event considerations.
Site Information: Camp Herms, El Cerrito CA. Site opens at 10 am, and closes at 10pm. Anyone onsite at 10:01pm is part of the clean-up crew. Tickets for the feast are $15; please contact the Autocrat about reservations. (The only true reservation is a paid reservation.) The tickets are limited, and there is extremely limited off-board table seating for the feast. All are welcome to attend and participate in the Hunt. There is no site fee; donations will be accepted to help the Province cover the cost of the site.
Autocrat: Eilis O'Boirne (contact info omitted).
