The Forty-Fourth Year

Misery Loves Company -- Rivenoak

February 13, 2010 (AS XLIV)

Thermalito Grange Hall,
Oroville, CA

From The Page (January, 2010):

Sir Gerstan Heah Leah, not being able to attend Estrella War, has been a little down. His lady. Mistress Siranna, said that experience tells her that by the beginning of February he will be in a deep funk. "Do something" she commanded his Lance. So I am organizing a "we're not at Estrella' party. Misery loves company I'm told, so the Barony invites friends and neighbors to join us in attempting to cheer up Sir Gerstan, and to just celebrate life in general. (But don't tell him, it's a surprise). We know that Sir Gerstan enjoys heraldry, games, and of course cooking. So in his honor, there will be several contests: Cooking: Period recipes using ingredients that would have been available at a rural castle/keep/estate in the late winter. Your entry will be your contribution to the potluck feast, so please adjust recipes to feed six to eight people. Heraldry: Usable, practical, displayed heraldry. Games: 10 games, round robin style, finals will be Backgammon. Feast will be potluck, based on the first letter of your legal surname: A-G Main dish, H -N Side dish, O-T Bread or cheese, U-Z Dessert

Site info: Thermalito Grange Hall / (address omitted) / Oroville, CA 95965. Site fee will be $6, $9 for non-members. Make checks payable to "SCA, Inc. Barony of Rivenoak." Site opens at noon, closes at 11pm.

Autocrat: Francis Bull of Kent (contact info omitted).
