El Cerrito, CA
From The Page (November, 2007):
The holidays are coming, and so is the Annual Beaconsgate Boar Hunt. In addition to the Hunt during the day, we will have many activities within the hall (dancing, singing, music, games) for non-fighters and tired fighters. Please plan to bring something for your lunch if you are coming on site early.
Boar Hunt is a fighting activity, with fighters armed with two maces playing the part of the Boar. Hunters are armed with spears, and hounds with daggers. There are also unarmored dogs who seek out the boars and bark when they are discovered - this can be a great role for a mature child accompanied by a responsible adult. If there is enough interest (and a qualified volunteer marshal), we may add a hunt for rapier fighters. The Cook for the Feast is Vigdis vestfirska. The menu will be announced in the December issue ofthe Page, and will be available on the website. Please contact Vigdis at (email address omitted) if you have any concerns about allergies, or if you are a vegetarian and are planning to attend the feast. The feast will begin around 5 pm, subject to event considerations.
Site Information: Camp Hermes, El Cerrito CA. Site opens at 10 am, and closes at 10 pm. Anyone onsite at 10:01 pm is part of the clean-up crew. Tickets are $15 for the feast; please contact the Autocrat about reservations. The tickets are limited. All are welcome to attend and participate in the Hunt. There is no site fee; donations will be accepted to help the Province cover the cost of the site.
Autocrat: Eilis O'Boime (contact info omitted).
