The Forty-First Year

Championship Tournament -- Vinhold

April 7, 2007 (AS XLI)

Kennedy Park,
Napa, CA

From The Page (March, 2007):

Avast! The denizens of the Kingdom of the West are invited to heave to and prepare to have fun. Members of the Barony will have breakfast grub for sale. Court will start at 9:30. Fifteen minutes after Court ends, the lists will close and thirty minutes after Court we will begin the "Spice Melee". We will be holding lists to name both Heavy Weapons and Rapier Championships for the Barony. During the breaks in fighting, we will be having melee team scenarios that include beanbag throwing cannons for both heavy and rapier fighters. Championship will feature the Privateer's Booty Cooking Contest. Our enemies are coming for dinner and supplies are limited. Luckily, the Barony has wily privateers out searching for unsuspecting vessels that are violating our shipping lanes. The Baron will be supplementing our traditional siege cooking with contests for a special booty of spices. Each cooking team is encouraged to bring or hire a heavy fighter to compete for prizes of spices. Cooking contestants may bring cook stoves, utensils, cutlery and serving gear but may not supply additional food or spices. All ingredients will be provided on site. We will also have plenty of knives and cooking utensils. The cooking contest will be judged on use of ingredients, taste, presentation, and historical probability. There will also be Baroness Ghislaine's College of Nautical Knowledge Quiz of Period Nautical Terms and Trivia. So check your charts and make way to Vinhold. We're Nautical, but nice.

Site Information: Held outdoors at Kennedy Park in Napa, CA. Site is open from 9 am to 4 pm. Site fee is $5 for members, and $8 for non-members.

Autocrat: Allen Greywolfe of Sussex (contact info omitted).
