The Forty-first Year

Rapier Event (Call to Champions) -- Caer Darth

August 12, 2006 (AS XLI)

MacDorsa Park,
Scotts Valley, CA

From The Page (August, 2006):

This year, while our armies are abroad bringing glory to the Kingdom, those left to tend to our security are invited to attend the Call to Champions, a late period event for Rapier fighters and those who love them. The Salon will feature naiads and nymphs who will help visitors stay cool, and entertain their guests with discussion, debate and laughter. Deeper behind the curtain will be Vyncent's wagering table, for those who believe they know their fighter well enough to put good Western coin on it. There will also be a discussion of court-wear as armor; come take a look at those fantastic late period outfits and discuss how one can transform them into rapier armor. Discuss the requirements with a Senior Rapier Marshal, and find out the most and least advisable options. For the rapier fighters, the Call to Champions: bring along your local champion, to test their mettle against the champions of other regions. In the Gentles' Tourney, test your precision by targeting arms, hands and legs only.

Site Information: We will be at MacDorsa Park. Site opens at 10 am, closes at 4 pm. Site fee is $5 for members and $8 for non-members. Make checks payable to "SCA, Inc - Caer Darth". This is a dry site. There are restrooms and fountains, as well as a BBQ pit so bring along somethmg for the grill.
