The Thirty-ninth Year

Poacher's Feast -- Caer Darth

May 8, 2004 (AS XXXIX)

Highlands Park,
Ben Lomond, CA

From The Page (April, 2004):

This year the Poachers and Rascals have been given sanctuary on the lands of Lord and Lady Atherton. Come celebrate the life of the free! Come eat and sing with us in the middle of the forest! We will laugh and celebrate in our own style; dancing around the maypole, playing silly games, like bread jousting... and finally choose a new Lord and Lady of Misrule from the guests! This is a family event and we welcome the littler of our ruffians to accompany their parents. We even have our own little playground for them to frolic in. Site Information: Highlands Park (Hwy 9), Ben Lomond, Santa Cruz (website address omitted). The event starts at noon and goes until 6 pm. Site Fee: With Meat $10, without Meat $7. (Non-member Surcharge, add $3) THIS IS A DRY SITE. Highlands Park has plenty of parking, but there is another event on in the main building this day. Please car pool if possible.

Food: Please make an effort to bring a dish. Based on your SCA first name. A-H, Breads; I-P, Salads / Veg; Q-Z, Pastries / Puddings. Please also make an effort to bring period dishes. We will provide MEAT and extras. (Venison, Boar, etc ... whatever can be gotten)

Autocrat: Robert of Ravenshill (contact info omitted).

From The Page (May, 2004):

We invite you to join the poachers and rascals of the shire as we celebrate our latest... errr... "acquisitions." This year the Lord and Lady Atherton have graciously given us sanctuary on their fine lands in the Highlands of Ben Lomond. We will laugh and celebrate in our own style - dancing around the maypole, playing silly games, and choosing our new Lord and Lady of Misrule. We also welcome the younger of our ruffians to accompany their parents, we have our own playground for them to frolic in. The site borders the San Lorenzo River, so thie water-safe ones can splash and wade as well. More information can be found at (website address omitted).

Site Information: Site opens at 10 am and closes at 6 pm. Site Fee : With Meat $10, without Meat $7 members (non-members add $3) While Highlands Park has plenty of parking, we will be sharing the site, so please carpool if possible. Off-site parking with shuttle service is available if you contact the autocrat in advance.

Food: Our poachers are providing the meat, but we ask that you bring additional dishes to share. Based on SCA first name: A -H Breads/Cheeses, I-P Salads/Vegetables, Q-Z Pastries/ Puddings/Sweets. Period dishes are always appreciated. Drink: Bring your own beverages. Note: this is a dry site.
