The Thirty-eighth Year

Newcomer's/Viking Games -- Eskalya

June 27-28, 2003 (AS XXXVIII)

Centennial Camper Park,
Anchorage, AK

From The Page (June, 2003):

Once again it is time to welcome our new members to the barony! This year we are combining Newcomer's Revel with Viking Games. We will have games and events for the newcomers to join in, including our traditional games, which in the past have included axe and knife throwing, rock, wrestling, and other feats of skill, strength, and wisdom. There will be a bear pit tourney with sword or axe and shield on Saturday and a prize tourney on Sunday. There will also be a Quest for both newcomer and oldtimer as well. The Autocrat will also be sponsoring a contest ("Viking in Any Mode"), which all are reminded is the second event of this year's Baronial Arts and Sciences Heptathlon. Site fee is $8 for adults $5 for children under 12 (and under 3 free), but there will be NO FEE for those gentles attending their first event. A representative of the West Kingdom Welcoming Committee will be on hand to take care of the non-member surcharge. There will be a lunch provided on Saturday, and a pot luck feast Saturday evening with beast and bird provided.

The site is Centennial Camper Park, (address omitted). Site opens Friday at 2 PM and closes Sunday at 5 PM.

Breakdown for feast is A-E breads and cheeses, F-J deserts, P-T fruits and veggies, U-Z starches. This site is discreetly wet.( No modern containers, please.)

Autocrat: Throvaldr Torbjomson (contact info omitted).
