The Thirty-eighth Year

First Annual Fall Equestrian Games

October 19, 2003 (AS XXXVIII)

Loomis Basin Horseman's Arena,
Loomis, CA

From The Page (September, 2003):

Please join us for the first annual West Kingdom Equestrian Games. We are planning classes, demonstrations, and games. Rental horses will be available. Overnight stabling for private horses is being offered by Lady Rhodri at her farm 10 miles from the site (contact information below). Planned so far: a class on equine medicine, a sidesaddle demonstration, a dressage demonstration, a mounted crest combat demonstration (a new SCA game), basic horse handling (grooming, tacking, etc) a variety of SCA equestrian games - some of which you have not yet seen!!! More classes are in the works.

Authorizations and games will go on in morning and afternoon sessions so that those renting a horse for half a day have the entire half-day in which to ride. Riding lessons are planned the first 30 nunutes of each session to let you and your horse get acquainted before competing. Rental information: $130 for the whole day, $65 for half a day. Make checks out to JB Ranch and send to the autocrat (NOT the wrangler) with your reservation. Reservations are refundable up to Oct 12. Include with your reservation your current authorization level or, if you are not authorized, your current riding level/experience. In addition, the wrangler strongly encourages people to come out to his ranch to take riding lessons so that they can have a more enjoyable experience. This will also help him to get to know you so he can bring the best horses possible for us. He charges $35 for 1 1/2 hours - a very good price. Contact him (contact info omitted).

Site fee: $10 for members / $13 for non-members / ages 5-15 $5 / under 5 free

Autocrat: Siobhan ni Seaghdha (contact info omitted).

Overnight stabling - Rhodri (contact info omitted).
