From The Page (April, 2002):
Good gentles, pray attend for I have news of import from the Barony of Winter's Gate. The time has come for all able-bodied warriors to vie amongst one another in a contest of arms for the singular honor of attaining the Captaincy of the Winter's Gate Militia and proclaiming their consort the Heart of Winter's Gate!
You will see the populace of our fair Barony and guests come together for a time of honorable combat, merriment, good food and camaraderie. The event will be held at the Moose Creek Pavilion in Alaskaland starting at 10 AM and ending at 10 PM. There is no camping on site, but as always, we have guest accommodations available for those traveling from afar to share in our festivities. Feast will be the usual potluck of fine foods from the populace. The main dish of a baked ham will be provided. There will be a contest for best period dessert. Please contact the Autocrat as soon as possible if you plan to bring a dish for the potluck so that I might see if there are any holes in the menu that need to be filled.
Other contests will include: Best new song, poem or story to be judged by the populace during feast. Armor bag toss. Naming of a children's service award for Winter's Gate. Medieval syrup sponsored by the brewing guild. Illuminated cards sponsored by the scribes guild. Traveling sewing kits. Herbal Salves, Leather in any mode sponsored by Taran. I encourage everyone to bring along a game or project to share with the rest of us. Along with all the other activities there will be a Reticello lace class by Gwenyth, dancing and a bardic. Children's activities will include jewelry-making and the Page School will have a royalty class.
Event fee: $5 per person. If you bring food for the potluck it is $3. Family rates will be no more than $15 per family, children under 5 are free. The site fee will be waived if you bring along a guest that has never attended one of our events. First time attendees will also have the site fee waived.
Autocrat: Taran de Montfort (contact info omitted).
