The Thirty-seventh Year

Beaconsgate Boar Hunt and Feast -- Province of the Mists

December 14, 2002 (AS XXXVII)

Camp Herms,
El Cerrito, CA

From The Page (November, 2002):

The holidays are coming, and so is the Annual Beaconsgate Boar Hunt. Right now, we are negotiating with the Boy Scouts about the Camp Herms site—we will be at Camp Herms, but there is a possibility that, because of rising costs to lease the site, we will have to cancel the Hunt and settle for just having the Feast. If that happens, we will make an announcement in the December Page. However, we felt that it would be better to have the Feast without the Hunt than to cancel the event entirely. If the Hunt is cancelled, we will have many activities within the Hall (dancing, singing, music, games - including a special Boar Hunt game) and, if the weather is nice, a fighter practice and/or tourney in the parking lot. The cook for the Feast this year is Flidais ni Eitigen, head cook of several Westermark Feasts, and the menu will feature old favorites and new treats. A menu will be published in next month's Page.

Site information: Tickets will be $15 for the Feast and will be on sale at Mists Investiture. If we find that we can have the Hunt, we will announce a "Hunt-Only" price next month. The site opens at 10 AM and closes at 10 PM-anyone on site at 10:01 is part of the clean-up crew.

Autocrat: Eilis O'Boirne (contact info omitted).

From The Page (December, 2002):

The holidays are coming, and so is the Annual Beaconsgate Boar Hunt. Right now, we are negotiating with the Boy Scouts about the Camp Herms site—we will be at Camp Herms. We will not have to cancel the Hunt this year, but we will be restricted as to how much of the site we can hunt on. We may also have a prize tourney, depending on how the day goes. We will have many activities within the Hall (dancing, singing, music, games) for non-fighters and tired fighters. Please plan to bring something for your lunch if you are coming on site early.

The cook for the Feast this year is Flidais ni Eitigen, head cook of several Westermark Feasts. The feast menu is as follows: Buttered Worts; Loin of Pork in Milk; Roasted Vegtables; Chicken in Verjuice; Tarts D'Brie; Chicken Sausages; Mushrooms in the French Tradition; Roast Pork with Sage Sauce; Spiced Apples; Crispes - and, of course, the traditional Boar's Head. The meal will be served in two courses with a desert. Please contact Flidais at (email address omitted) if you have any concerns about allergies. The feast will begin at about 4 PM - depending on the whim of the Cook.

Site information: Tickets will be $15 for the Feast and will be on sale at Mists Investiture. The price for the Hunt alone is $5. The site opens at 10 AM and closes at 10 PM —anyone onsite at 10:01 PM is part of the clean-up crew.

Autocrat: Ellis O'Boime (contact info omitted).
