From The Page (August, 2002):
Come join us for an afternoon of feasting, while the aspiring Bards display their skill, wit and talent. Our feast is being prepared by the incomparable Anahita al-Qurtubiyya bint abd al-Karim al-Fassi. During the removes there will be dancing and other merriment. If you are interested in competing, or have any questions about the duties, requirements or privileges of the office, please contact the Bard of the Mists. Those who would like to perform an original piece during the feast, and who are not part of the competition, are invited to contact the Bard-o-crat.
Entrants should be prepared to perform the following five pieces:
A period piece: This is a documentable piece of words, of music, or both.
An original piece in a period style: Must be of original composition by the entrant, done in a period style. You must document the style you have chosen!
The "Bard's Choice": Our fair principality has a beautiful song to sing its praises and spread the word of the beauty of The Mists. Unfortunately, this causes our neighbors to be jealous, and we need to defend ourselves! This year's Bard's Choice has been selected to aid in this effort — compose and perform the "Mists War Song." (Interpret "Song" as you will.)
The Masterpiece: Show us your best! (This need not be an original piece.)
An Impromptu Composition: Entrants will draw 3 words from a hat. The entrant will have 15 minutes to incorporate the words into a Bardic piece composed on site.
Note: Entrants should provide ten copies of their documentation.
Site information: Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Off-board seating is available for $8 or $5 for students with ID. Entrants, as always, get in for free.
