The Thirty-sixth Year

Family Pas and Feast -- Golden Rivers

June 2, 2001 (AS XXXVI)

(?) Park,
Sacramento, CA

From The Page (May, 2001):

Unto the Great and Noble Populace of the West do the combatants (both young and old) of the Province of Golden Rivers send forth a challenge to meet with us upon the field of honor in a Passage of Arms. It has occurred to us that the joy of combat is not unique to the armored combatants of the Society, and that the practice of Chivalry and Courtesy are not the product of advanced age or exceptional skill at arms. Thus, we have determined that our field be opened to all those members of the page school who wish to take part in this great endeavor. It is our hope that, by including the younger members of the Society on this day, we may find greater enjoyment in clash of arms. Those pages who wish to take part in this Passage of Arms are encouraged to meet with the armored fighters prior to the beginning of challenges so we can explain the tournament format and help them prepare to take the field. Additionally, fighters will be on hand to act as heralds for those young combatants who would like assistance in making their challenges heard. All combat among pages will be according to established West Kingdom Page School rules.

For those less martial in their pursuits, we are planning a wide variety of activities for children of all ages, including dancing and period games both in and out of the hall.

Site fee: $5 per adult; $3 per child. There will be a feast following the Pas, for an additional $7 per adult and $5 per child. Please send feast reservations to the Autocrat; and direct all questions regarding the feast and any dietary concerns to the Autocrat.

Autocrat: Alvar Pacheco de Cadiz (contact info omitted). The Province of Golden Rivers will be hosting Boffer-making workshops at our Tuesday Dance practice at Orange Grove Adult School in Sacramento throughout the month of May. Contact the Autocrat for more info.
