The Thirty-sixth Year

Newcomers' Event/Solstice -- Eskalya

June 15-17, 2001 (AS XXXVI)

Centennial Park,
Anchorage, AK

From The Page (June, 2001):

Its that time of year again! Bring your pavilion, your sunscreen, and fifty of your closest friends and join us for the annual Eskalyan Newcomers'/Solstice event! There will be a Friendship Quest, and the traditional Champion of the Midnight Sun tournament, both heavy and rapier.

Arts & Sciences competitions are as follows: Favors; Leather cup straps; Mug covers. In an effort to encourage newcomers to become "hands-on" involved, there will be a separate category in each contest for newcomers. Materials will be provided on site for any gentles, new or not, who wish to create their entries on Saturday. Please consider dropping by the A&S table and helping our visitors learn a new skill! Also, we would like to create a display of Eskalyan projects, in order to show our newcomers the myriad of arts and sciences available in our Barony. The projects do not need to be complete, and we promise to take good care of them. If you can contribute a display item, please contact an autocrat.

Feast will be potluck by mundane last name. Please note that we do not have refrigeration beyond coolers, nor do we have heating facilities beyond the midnight sun. A-D Breads and spreads, E-M Side dishes, N-S Salads or vegetables, T-Z Desserts Meat will be provided. We are looking forward to seeing everyone and all your friends!

Autocrat: Bianca Rose Byrnes (contact info omitted).

Deputy Autocrat: Teresa Roisin (contact info omitted)
