East Portal Parks,
From The Page (July, 2000):
The Province of Golden Rivers welcomes everyone to bask and revel in the face of the ascendancy of autumn. Picnic in the shade or dappled sunlight of Golden Rivers amidst the elms and oaks and enjoy the pageantry of our annual pas d'armes.
This year, we take our theme from the venerable story of "Horatius at the Bridge." This ancient story pits the invading Etruscans (venans) as they attempt to cross the only bridge across the River Tiber in an attempt to lay siege to the defending Romans (tenans). At the bridge, a noble passage of arms will emulate the exploits of the Noble Roman Horatius as he held off the Etruscan Army.
