Boar Hunt and Feast -- Province of the Mists
December 10, 2000 (AS XXXV)

"The Boar Hunt this year was a lot of fun. Two boars appeared (Geoffrey Scott and ...?). Geoffrey Scott really went all out this year and made a spangenhelm that had a pig-face (with silver tusks), nicely done. The helm was done in such a way that when it was cold, and Geoffrey breathed out, the mist came out through the nostrils -- nice effect!

"There were several hunts, including a situation where a boar got into the lodge via the kitchen, cowered under a table, was chased out by Tangwystyl verch Morgant Glasvryn with a broom. There was a hunter waiting outside who got run over. (Actually I think the boar gored him, jumped on him, etc.)

"Later, apparently the boars and the hounds ganged up on the hunters (my understanding is that the hounds were not happy as they weren't getting fed properly), and came in with three dead hunters and dropped them in the staging area. (Comments about having 'long-pig' for dinner made a few folk feel a bit ill ...)

"The feast was cooked by Anahita Gaouri bint-'abd al-Karim al-hakim al-Fassi and members of the College of St. Katherine. It was quite tasty ...

"Their Highnesses Brion and Shaheena of the Mists held a short court in which they thanked people who had come to their first event; thanked everyone who put the event on (autocrat, cooks, etc.); and awarded Anahita Gaouri bint-'abd al-Karim al-hakim al-Fassi with a Rose Leaf (and an accompanying Award of Arms).

"Entertainment included a magic show by Juan Santiago, some dancing and the usual telling of tales of the hunt by those who participated.

"All in all a cold, but very fun day ..." -- Hirsch von Henford
