The Thirty-fifth Year

That Dam War! Part 2: A Bridge Too Far -- Betony Wood

November 4, 2000 (AS XXXV)

Alfricland (private property),
Sacramento, CA

From The Page (November, 2000):

Come play the LAST war of the season! Last Year, the Good shire of Betony Wood had won the right to claim Folsom Lake as its territory and this year the "new" bridge is built as the fine companion to the Lake. It is a restored, new "antique" bridge from the Lake's history. The old "new" bridge we will leave to our Shire-neighbors, Danegeld Tor and the rest of the Province of Golden Rivers to do with as they wish. We know that this will be disputed, so the Good shire of Betony Wood and its Allies (mercenaries, anyone?) will stand and defend its right to the claim! Come all you brave warriors and good swordsmen (Heavy and Rapier!) for noble combat!

The Location is at Alfricland (directions to follow). Ihere will be the usual scenarios for heavy and archery (trebuchet too?), but this year, we want Rapier swordsmen and ladies of the sword for bridge duels, castle duels, and forest duels, stay the day to play and say that, you too fought in that DAM war! The site opens at 9:30am. Armour inspection/ mercenary contract negoiations completed sometime before 11am.

Site fee is $3 per person, 12 years and under free. If you can, please try to carpool -- parking is limited. If you have a sunshade, it would be appreciated if brought for gear stowing and general shade. We can try to provide one on site.

Autocrat: Mikail Aldrich (contact info omitted).
