Millville Grange Hall,
From The Page (August, 2000):
Come celebrate a tradition of long ago--the Inns of Court Students were divided from their attorney mentors by a long bar, and after a number of years, successful candidates were admitted beyond the bar (hence the term "called to the bar"). This newly acquired social status was celebrated with singing, feasting, drama and dancing.
Bestwodeschire cordially invites the West to join us in this grand event. There shall be a collegium teaching leatherworking, calligraphy, dance, juggling, period archery, astronomy, Page school and more. We will have a popinjay shoot for archers. After, partake in the theatre and feast on a wonderful array of English foods and tantalizing desserts. Don't forget your mask-there will be a ball to follow! Prizes will be awarded for Best Masque for a Lord and a Lady. During the ball, the rule of "golden hall" will be enforced—one must remain in persona while in the golden hall. We will also be playing a "No" game (do not say "no" in the hall, in any language). Adding mystery and intrigue to the day, there will be murder afoot. A prize will be awarded to the best sleuth.
Site info: Advance tickets (on sale now!) are $10 for adults; $5 ages 7-12; under 7 free. Site fee increases $3 per ticket at the door. Site opens at noon, collegium begins at 1pm, outdoor theatre at 5:30pm, feast at 6:30pm and Masqued Ball at 8.
Autocrat: Ricard of Canterbury (contact info omitted).
