Boar Hunt and Revel -- Rivenoak

June 4-6, 1999 (AS XXXIV)

(?),
Concow, CA

From The Page (May, 1999):

The Barony of Rivenoak bids you welcome, one and all! As the forests around Rivenoak are rife with boar, wolves, and the occasional evil troll, we need your help in eradicating them from our realm! Join us in a merry romp through the lush, woodland Concow campsite of our annual Boar Hunt! Baron Gwyn ap Llyr invites all to take pleasure in the culmination of this event: the evening revel and actual roast of the loser of the Boar Hunt!

The site opens at 12:00 noon Friday for camping. The gate will be open late Friday night, with the usual SCA lock in place the rest of the time. Boar Hunt sign-ups begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday; the actual hunt begins at 11:00 a.m. There will be other heavy and light fighting scenarios throughout the remainder of the afternoon (once the boars, wolves, and trolls are good and dead!). Site closes at 5:00 p.m. Sunday. There are some guidelines that we will need to follow: Plan to unload and then move all vehicles to the overnight parking immediately to ensure unloading space for people arriving after you. There will be no parking of tent-trailers, RVs, campers, etc. within the campsite, unless space has been reserved with the Autocrat, This is a discreetly wet site, which means that we need to have kegs covered and we need to pack out our alcohol bottles and cans. For the safety of all, THERE IS NO SWIMMING IN THE LAKE, as it is not kept free of debris! All animals must be leashed and attended or else confined at all times. Please remember to take reasonable precautions regarding valuables. All fires (firepits, hibachis, etc.) must be 18 inches off the ground. As This is fire season, there will be NO GROUND FIRES ALLOWED!

Site Fee: $6 for adults; $3 for children (ages 6-12); 6 and under are free. Please make checks payable to "SCA, Inc. - Kingdom of the West."

Autocrat: Lady Tusya Tatiana Sudoseva (contact info omitted).
