Crescent City, CA
From The Page (July, 1999):
Come one, come all to Purgatorio, and celebrate the coronation of the new King and Queen of the West in the scenic Shire of Wuduholt be Secg, where the temperature rarely reaches 75 degrees in the summer. The event will be held at the West/An Tir War site, eight miles north of Crescent City, CA. There will be camping in the trees (forest battle area) at this event. Please be prepared for cool nights around 50 degrees with fog. Everyone is encouraged to bring potable water. There will be a limited amount on site along with an abundance of privies. Be prepared, please bring mosquito repellent and sun block; and rain gear (you never know on the north coast). All pets must be leashed. West Kingdom fire laws prohibit open flames (i.e. tiki torches, candles, etc.) on site or inside pavilions. All fires must be raised 18 inches above the ground. Some type of fire extinguisher (the real thing, a bucket of water or sand) must be nearby all fires. All fires must be attended while burning. Site will open at 12 noon Friday and close at 5 p.m. Sunday. The roads are much improved and the drive is the best in the Kingdom, so take your time and we'll be waiting up for you.
(From The Page, August, 1999): -- just the bit about the Pandybat
Pandybat: With the gracious permission of Their Royal Highnesses, a grand and splendid PANDYBAT MELEE will be held on Sunday. Prepare your weapons of weirdness, and bravely strive to make the populace giggle. The weapons form adjudged by the Royal Ladies there present to be the most dangerous to its user— and which amuses them the most will earn the bearer glad custody over the famed Pandybat--"Phil"--~himself.
Site fee: $6 per person; $3 for children 4 to 12, babes 3 and under FREE.
Merchants: Contact the Merchant Liaison for this event to reserve space (which there is plenty of): Maude (contact info omitted)
