East Portal Park,
From The Page (September, 1999):
On Saturday, September 25th, the Province of Golden Rivers welcomes all to bask and revel in the face of the ascendancy of autumn. The site is a small park surrounded by great trees of elm and oak, but no tree dares stand in the path of the mighty warriors who approach to take part in a grand pas d'arms in the Burgundian style. As was the manner of the Burgundians, the Pas d'Arms was a feast for the eyes and ears, with grand and glorious pageantry, the call of trumpets, the thunder of elephants, the song of maiden voices all coming together in a procession of grandeur and a presentation of artistry unrivaled. This paramount splendor will be reborn on this autumn day so that all who bear witness to this event will see the lions in their dens, trembling at the approach of each warrior poet, ancient worthy or fierce barbarian. The challenges will cut the air in song and rhyme, the consorts will inspire both valor and panache, the clash of swords, axes, maces and pole arms will shake the mountains and the gentle breezes of Autumn will still the waters of our Golden Rivers. The gallery will present ribbons to those combatants whose honor, valor and panache have brought splendor to our noble land.
Please note: the Province Rapier Tournament has been deferred until November 27th.
