That Dam War -- Golden Rivers

October 23, 1999 (AS XXXIV)

Alfricland,
Sacramento, CA

From The Page (October, 1999):

GOTTA GO TO THAT DAM WAR!!!! The Shire of Betony Wood and the Province of Golden Rivers are fighting over Folsom Dam. Its state of disrepair is so great that neither group wants it, so we're having a war over it. The losing side gets the dam! The war is to be held at the property known as Alfricland, located in the Shire of Betony Wood. We will have open-field, bridge, forest, and castle battles. A resurrection melee may be held if time permits.

As this is a one-day event, there will be no camping. There are several hotels in the area and crash space may be available as needed. Contact the autocrat for more information. As space is limited, there will be no merchants. There is a small grocery store about one mile from site, an Albertson's on Bradshaw Road about 6 miles from the site, and numerous fast-food and other restaurants on and near Bradshaw Road. Also, please do not bring pavilions or sunshades Golden Rivers and Betony Wood will provide sunshades for the populace. And please, no animals if it can be avoided.

Marshals and water-bearers are needed! If you do not intend to fight, please consider volunteering for one of tiiese tasks!

Special note: This is private property; certain rules apply as follows: Fighters must bring their fighter authorization cards. Weapons may be no more than 7.5 feet long (no pikes). Javelins and golf tube arrows only; no wooden-shafted arrows are allowed. Stay away from and out of the trailers and the pool that are on site. Anyone found in or around them will be asked to leave. Please carpool as parking is limited

Site info: The site opens at 9:00 a.m., and closes at sundown. Fighting will begin at noon, or whenever we have enough fighters to start a battle. Site fee: $5 per person.
