St. Mary's Episcopal Church,
From The Page (March, 2000):
Do you feel the need for wicked behavior? Nothing better to do than beat the heck out of each other? If so, come to the Penitence Tourney! Slay your fellow fighters! Gorge upon rich food fit for nobles! Cheer on acts of violence! and when you are done, visit our indulgence booth and be absolved of your heinous crimes for a mere pence!!
The tourney is planned as double elimination. Sinfully delightful prizes will be awarded! We propose contests to entertain those both on the field of combat and off; including the traditional best death, best apology to one's slain opponent on the field, best display of grief for one's slain lord/lady, most creative apology and best penance wickedness.
Other contests include: Bardic competition - poem/song about the day's tourney; Death by Dancing (back by popular request); Quick the Bard and more.
So for more fun than you can shake a sword at, join us for a day of fun, dancing and gratuitous violence. The site will be St. Mary's Episcopal Church on the corner of Tudor and Lake Otis. This will be a discretely wet site (alcohol to be in Waldron Hall only). As this is revel there will be no served feast; instead, the feast will be potluck with a main meat dish and sumptuous desserts being furnished. Please bring your potluck dish according to the first letter of your mundane last name; A- H Vegetables; I - R Starches, pasta, rice; S - Z Breads and spreads.
Site fee: $7 for adults; $3.5012 and under; Free 3 and under. Site will open at 10 a.m. with the tourney scheduled for 12:30 and feast at 5:30.
