San Benito County Fairgrounds,
Tres Pinos, CA
From The Page (January, 2000):
To all those bold of arms, valiant of heart, and skilled in courtesy, greetings! We of Darkwood know that all members of our fair Kingdom possess these qualities and we invite you to our White Shield Feast and Tournament. Know you that the theme of this year's event is nobility and valor, which are proven in acts both on and off the field. Even now our cooks are preparing great feats in the kitchen and our fighters planning a mighty tourney. There shall also be singing and dancing and many other fine acts of revelry, so come and add your presence to this our day of celebration.
The site opens at 8:30 A.M. with armor inspection beginning at 9:00 A.M. The tournament will begin punctually at 10:00 A.M. with a bar-room brawl. A special prize will be given for the best bar-room "weapon." The winner of the tournament will become the White Shield Champion, and the most consummately valiant Darkwood fighter will become the year's Champion of Darkwood.
During the day there will be a Silent Auction with many rare and wonderful treasure to bid upon. There will also be competitions in the Arts and Sciences. Arts: Poetry, on the theme of heroism; Sciences: Shield construction; Cook's Guild: sotelties in praise of the Darkwood Oak (the Cook's Guild entries will be presented to the populace after judging as part of the feast.)
Tickets for the feast will be on sale as of Twelfth Night. Tickets tend to sell rapidly for this feast, so please reserve your feast tickets early.
