Greetings from the Canton of the Borderwinds. We invite the populace of the West Kingdom's fair lands and those of Caid's noble folk to our 16th Annual Protectorate Tourney. It will be held on August 7, 1999, at Waller Park in Santa Maria.

Oyez! Oyez! Oyez! Fighters attend! Come and fight for the honor of having your Lady named "Lady of Love and Beauty." Rules will be available on site. Lists will open at 10:00 a.m. Fighting will begin at 12:00 noon. Site closes at sundown.

A variety of contests will be held, including: Most Chivalrous Act On Site (everyone is eligible); Best Death (rules on site); Red Dessert (no nuts or coconut please); and a surprise contest involving period literature for everyone to participate in.

Site fee: $2.00 per body, Children one year and younger are free. Please note: All children not accompanied by or supervised by an adult will be asked to leave. There will be a barbecue/potluck after the tournament until sundown. Bring your own meat to barbecue, BYOD (site is dry) and a dish to serve eight: A-G vegetable; H-N side dish; O-Z dessert. The Canton will provide charcoal and bread. Gentle reminder: Eating together is one of the best experiences in the Current Middle Ages.
