The Thirty-fourth Year

Warlord Ascension VI -- Wuduholt be Secg

September 4-6, 1999 (AS XXXIV)

Rowdy Creek Campground,
Crescent City, CA

From The Page (August, 1999):

In the past, we have had Warlords who died gloriously by running onto the ends of pikes; some have fought valiantly against insurmountable odds before being hacked to pieces in a bar brawl; and one even survived a battle by stopping an arrow from piercing his brain by blocking it with the shaft of his spear! Any warriors who think they are strong enough, brave enough and, most importantly, stupid enough to join this elite group of warriors, prepare for battle! And, lots of it!

This year, the Warlord Ascension is being held at the beginning of the very fair month of September; great weather and long days will accomodate the multiple war scenarios and contests. And we guarantee more fighting and less talking for all you war dogs out there-IT'S ALL WAR, ALL DAY!

This is the event to see what you're made of—can you handle fighting all day and reveling all night? If so, get your gear together and head this way! Saturday evening will feature the choosing of our Warlord and a torchlight prize tourney for the physically fit and mentally unfit. It will be a drawn-weapons tourney, so bring all your toys! West Kingdom Archery Conventions will apply to all missile combat. An Tirian archers don't have to wear screen. Thistle missiles and 1-1/4" blunts only!

For noncombatants, there will be activities and contests throughout the day: Northern Mountains and Summits Geography Contest, Heraldry Class for Smalls, Name that Armor Contest, and Most Revitalizing After-Battle Meal. Also, there will be An Adventurous Quest for Mystical Treasure! Plenty of activity for all who attend! The event will be at the same site as last year (for those who remember), which includes flat ground for comfortable camping, shady trees to relax under and a cool creek to swim in after a long day of fun-loving war. (Parents please watch children, as there will be no lifeguard available.) There is a working well on site, but bringing drinking water is advised. (For supplies, Ray's Food Place is adjacent to the turnoff.) West Kingdom fire laws will be in effect. Parking will be tight, so please carpool if possible.

Site info: Site opens at 2 PM Friday and closes 5 PM Sunday. Site fee is $5 per person; smalls under 10 only $2; 5 and under FREE. Da' Vikings will be "encouraging" everyone at the gate to donate a beverage for a raffle. With each donation you will receive a free raffle ticket for a chance to win, and you'll get Da' Vikings' deepest appreciation. All beverages collected will be raffled off, either as a whole or in lots, Saturday afternoon. All proceeds go to benefit the Wuddy War Fund for Siege Weapon Development. Tickets will be $1 each or $5 for six. Winners must be present to collect prizes or Da' Vikings will collect them for you!

Autocrat: Baron Thorkil Stormchaser (contact info omitted).
