The Thirty-third Year

Pas d'Armes -- Windy Meads

April 17, 1999 (AS XXXIII)

Willow Oak Fire District Hall,
Woodland, CA

From The Page (April, 1999):

Join the shepherds, shepherdesses, and other simple folk of the Shire of Windy Meads as we do our rustic best to hold a pastoral Pas d'Armes in imitation of the knights and nobles we have seen from afar. We invite all participants to dress in rustic style and come prepared to celebrate the joys and romance of country life! Earl Cybi d’Elmhurst will be our Knight of Honour at this passage of arms, and Mistress Siobhan Medhbh O'Roaike will be our cook for the feast to follow. Site opens at 10:00 a.m, and Le Pas Pastoral begins at 11:00 am. sharp. The feast begins at 6:00 p.m. Site closes at 12:00 midnight. Site fee is $5, and feast tickets are $8 per person (children under 12, half price; under 3, &ee). Only 100 feast tickets are available, so make your reservations early! Mail feast reservations and checks to Yllaria Gyngyvere (mundane name/address omitted). Yllaria may also be reached at (phone) or by e-mail: (email). It's not a reservation until it's paid! Make checks payable to "SCA, Inc.-Shire of Windy Meads." Include your e-mail address if you want your reservations confirmed.

An Arts and Sciences exhibit and competition will be held on the theme "Anything Sheep-ish." Entries, in any period art or science, of projects relating to wool or sheep are welcome, including (but not limited to) textiles, leather, wood, medicine, storytelling, song, tools, cooking, brewing, and needlework! Documentation may be written or oral; unfinished projects are eligible. Prizes will be offered for Most Authentic, Most Splendiferous, and Choice of the Populace (everyone gets to vote!). Please submit your entries by 12:00 noon. Shire Minister of Arts & Sciences: Medwe Janos (contact info omitted).

Fighters should come prepared to petition the Gallery for admittance to the lists. Arts and Sciences entries, heraldry and costume, largesse, and (brief) tales of your great deeds might well incline the Gallery in your favor. We have a new site this year: Willow Oak Fire District Hall, (address omitted) (outside Woodland).

Autocrat: Christian de Holacombe (contact info omitted).
