Maniilaq Activity Center,
From The Page (March, 1999):
Come all ye merry revelers to celebrate with the citizenry of Moroedd Oer the blue moon (month with two full moons). A more dazzling brilliance ye will not see than our sunlit snow-covered canton. A festive week's end is plaimed, complete with:
The Feast of Many Cooks: This is an authentic-dish poduck and will be served in a circular Pavonne style. Oven, stove, and microwave are available on site. Contact the canton Arts Minister for dish suggestions, or try to find a period recipe from books or online at sites such as: (web address omitted). The Arts & Sciences Competition: Best Garb by a Newcomer (been to four events or fewer, or first costume made). Documentation or minimal source or idea information requested. The Snow Tourney Classic: Sponsored by Lord Hafoc, this will be a round robin style heavy weapons tourney (our first tourney!). The "Name the Northernmost Canton" Contest: Alas, "Moroedd Oer" (Icy Seas) did not pass the Heralds' scrutiny. The northernmost canton in the Known World needs a new name . . . and documentation for said name! (We're 35 miles north of the Arctic Circle, in Oertha, within Kotzebue Sound, north of the Bering Straits.) We're open to all suggestions, though we're leaning toward northern cultures. Good armoury suggestions to go along with a name will gain extra points. »Open to all in the West Kingdom and Beyond!« We would like to announce the winner at the event, but the decision may take longer.
A music & dancing workshop and fighting practice will be held Sunday. Bed and bread will be happily provided by our citizenry, who earnesdy desire your company. Come and share your medieval worldliness with our new members. Please call, write or email for details.
