From The Page (February, 1999):
Greetings, one and all! Golden Rivers invites you to join us in a busy day of many friendly conditions to determine the next bearers of the circlets of Golden Rivers and the next Bard of the Province. The struggle to determine the Lord and Lady of Golden Rivers is no easy task, for in addition to the heavy tournament (in a round robin style, so there should be plenty of good fighting) at least one of the challenging couple (fighter or consort) is required to enter either the bardic or arts and sciences competitions.
To add to the excitement, a rapier tourney is being planned. The evening's festivities will include a potluck dinner, dancing, and singing. All competitions are intended to be very inclusive: if you've got a new song, bring it along! If you've got a new shield, come use our field! If you've got a new poem... ironically, not much rhymes with poem, but please feel free to share it. For the Arts & Sciences competitions, the theme of the day is "that which honors your consort." For the Arts competition, the category is heraldic display; for Sciences, it's woodworking. Companions of the Golden Salmon are invited to attend for a brief meeting.
Site fee: $5, includes a light day board; children under 12 free. Site opens at 11:00 a.m., and closes at 10:00 p.m. Armour inspection begins at 12:00 noon, and all competitions are to commence promptly thereafter.
Steward: Gaston de Clermont; (contact info omitted).
