The Thirty-third Year

Baronial Succession -- Eskalya

February 6-7, 1999 (AS XXXIII)

St. Patrick's Parish Hall,
Anchorage, AK

From The Page (February, 1999):

Tancred and Sorcha, Fifth Baron and Baroness of Eskalya, invite you to welcome Their Heirs to the Baronial Thrones, and to celebrate the birthday of Her Incoming Excellency, Kada of Bergen. They also welcome the visit of Their Majesties, Garick and Talitha, to this most joyous occasion.

To that end, you are invited to gather on February 6 and 7 at St. Patrick's Parish Hall in Anchorage. No particular costume theme, only a celebration of the Baronial colors: sable, or, and argent. Their Majesties are interested in meeting the populace during Their stay in our barony, so a Bardic will be held on Friday night and a Baroness' Brunch/Fighter Practice on Sunday morning.

The pre-event Bardic will be at the autocrat's house, starting at 7:00 p.m. Friday. Come sing and meet the Royalty (The King is rumored to be a baritone/bass).

The Baroness' Brunch will be at House Schlagen Fighter Practice on Sunday, starting at 11:00 a.m. Wear appropriate garb for the event. Their Majesties' flight will be early Sunday afternoon, so please be aware of the time.

Everyone attending the event will receive a site token commemorating the end of one era and the beginning of the next. Those wishing a more special token can help the site fee and the autocrat's blood pressure by buying a .999 silver token for $10. Pre-orders will ensure your receipt; we are currently only ordering these special memories for the current and incoming Baronial Presences.

The event will also include: A Baroness' Champion Tourney, a light lunch so people can watch the fighting, Dancing (it's Sorcha's last chance to demand it!), a served feast in three removes, a contest for desserts (desserts will be presented as the final remove for feast), a contest for best contribution to the Baronial Booty Basket, a tithe to Their Majesties (small gifts for Their Majesties to give at events during Their Reign; for all articles, please attach a name and locale of the creator(s); if edible, or containing alcohol, please list ingredients and/or instructions)

As this event will be elaborate (and expensive: we are paying travel costs for the Royal Presences), there will be an auction at the event to help defray costs. Bottles rumored to contain Liquid, Diamond Willow, and other local artisan works will be sold to the highest bidder. Any donations for said auction would be thankfully accepted. Contact the autocrat for Tears of Gratitude.

Site: St. Patrick's Parish Hall, (address omitted), Anchorage, AK Site opens at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 12:01 a.m.

Autocrat: Mistress Anne of Bradford (contact info omitted).

Site Fee: $15 per adult; $7 per child (5-14); children under 5 are free. Those gentles who wish to barter good works for all or part of their site fee may contact the autocrat.

Reservations: Before February 2, please. Make checks payable to "SCA, Inc.-Barony of Eskalya." Reservation forms for coins and event will be available from the autocrat and at all pre-succession events, or you can contact the autocrat (please include a contact phone number in any e-mail message).

Description of this event (if any), taken from The Page, or from memory of at least one person who attended the event.
