Baroness' Masked Ball -- Darkwood

December 19, 1998 (AS XXXIII)

Machado School,
Morgan Hill, CA

From The Page (November, 1998):

The Barony of Darkwood invites one and all to a masqued ball and potluck feast in honor of our Baroness, Elizabeth of the Blue Rose. The festivities will be held at Machado School in Morgan Hill. Come and join us in celebrating our wonderful Baroness!

The site opens at 1:00 p.m. The potluck feast will begin at 6:00 p.m., the dancing at 8:00 p.m. The site will close at 10:00 p.m.

Site fee: $5 for adults; $3 for children 6-12; children under 6 are free. There will be numerous activities throughout the afternoon before the feast, weather permitting, including a bottle-cutting contest and live boffer chess. A mask-making table will be open where all can come and make masks for the ball. Also, Mistress Catherine Lorraine has graciously volunteered to teach a beginning stitchery class, and Aldric and Alys of Stonebridge will be holding a dance practice in preparation for the evening's ball. No experience is necessary. Come brush up on the dances you know and learn some new ones! There will be Page School activities running through the afternoon as well. More information (times, etc.) for all of these will be in December's Page.

The Barony will be providing the meat for the potluck feast. If you're going to be joining us, please bring supplemental dishes according to the following breakdown by mundane last name: A-E dessert; F-O vegetables or salads; O-Z breads or starches.

The ball will begin at 8:00 p.m. and continue until the site closes. In honor of the Baroness, the marvelous Blue Rose Morris Dancers will be performing.

Autocrat: Quentyn Siobhan O'Riordain (contact info omitted).
