The Protectorate Tourney for the Barony of Tarnmist will be held August 2, 1998, at Waller Park in Santa Maria. Lists will open at 10:00 a.m., and fighting will begin at 12:00 noon. A "bring your own barbecue" potluck will be held after the event until sundown, for those who would like to stay. Those staying for dinner are asked to bring their own main course and a side dish, salad, bread, or vegetable to serve 8.

Attention all fighters: the fourteenth annual Protectorate for the Canton of Borderwinds will be held August 1, 1998, at Waller Park, Santa Maria. Come and fight for the honor of having your Lady named Lady of Love and Beauty (rules available on site). Lists will open at 10:00 a.m., fighting will begin at 12:00 noon. A variety of contests will be held, including: Most Chivalrous Act on Site (Everyone), Best Death (Rules on Site), Most Decadent Brownie (Dessert Contest - no nuts, please), Best On-Site Sewing/Needlework Contest (supplies provided), and Storytelling (particulars to be drawn/given on site). There is a site fee of $2.00 per body, children 1 year and younger are free. Please note: all children not accompanied or supervised by an adult will be asked to leave.

There will be a barbeque/potluck after the tournament until sundown, for those who would like to stay. Those staying for dinner should bring what you would like to barbeque, BYOB (site is dry), and one of the following, to serve 8: A-G = vegetable/salad, H-N = side dish, O-Z = Dessert. Canton will provide charcoal and bread.
