From The Page (December, 1997):
Come one, come all to the Shire of Teufelberg Yule Revel, 4:00 PM to 9:30 PM at the home of our hosts, (mundane names) (Viscountess Jeanette of Briairose and Viscount Sir William of Briardust), (address), in Lafayette. Bring a dish to share, slippers for in-house wear, a gift for the pirate gift exchange, ganies, musical instruments, and a spirit of fun. Candles are OK, but please ask hostess prior to placement (house will be X-mas decorated). We will provide hot and cold beverages, (BYOB), chairs, music, a fireplace, and a spirit of fun. There is no required site fee, but donations to help cover our expenses will be cheerfully accepted. Please call hostess at (contact info omitted) if you have questions or can bring a folding table and table cloth suitable for dining. There may be space to set up table seating for all.
Our traditional pirate gift exchange is the highlight of this annual event. Each participant brings one wrapped gift (suggested price range is $2—$10) which is placed in a pile. Each person draws a number from a hat. Number one picks a gift and Number Two has a choice of the previously opened gift or one from the pile. If your gift is taken, you get another chance to take from the pile or steal one yourself! This goes on until all gifts are opened, then Number One gets his or her pick of all opened gifts. To prevent free-for-alls, each gift can be stolen only once per round. This activity usually provides a great deal of entertainment, as well as a gift for everyone!
Autocrat: Iosef Braun (contact info omitted).
