From The Page (September, 1997):
Come join us to witness this contest and to make merry and celebrate all that our Warlord has done and welcome our new Warlord, Tourneys include Warlord's (Warlord's choice) and a Bear Pit Prize Tourney. Armor inspection begins at 11:30 with the Tourney beginning promptly at Noon. Since the human sized board game was so popular with the fighters last year, we are bringing it back this year. Though it will be full of riddles and challenges, it won't be for the fighters only this time! The whole populace may play and there will be a prize for the winner. As a highlight for the smalls there will be a birthcky celebration for several smalls whose birthdays fall close together and close to Warlord's. The parents are planning a grand gala, with much fun for all the smalls including a miniature court for the birthday smalls (they get to be princesses and princes). The Shire Arts & Sciences officer requests that all those musically inclined please feel free to bring your musical instruments to practice and play on to add to the ambience of the event, and since there isn't a bardic planned, take this opportunity to discuss and share new songs and music. Please bring any board games you may have as we would like to set up a gaming hall.
Hot beverages will be available throughout the day and lunch will be provided. Feast will be potluck, with the main dish being provided by the Shire. Please bring potluck dishes according to Mundane last name: A- G = Side Dish or Salad, H - N = Desserts, O - Z = Breads and Spreads
Site fee: $5 for adults and $3 for children 4 and over. The site will open at 10 am on Saturday.
Autocrats: Gwendolyn of Rooks Haven (phone).
