Rowdy Creek Campground,
Crescent City, CA
From The Page (October, 1996):
Last year's event was a rousing success, as tihose wtio attended last year can readily attest. This year will be even better as His Highness of the Summits, Prince Lawrence, has said that he would gladly lead his troops to play with the rest of us in the multitude of war scenariosi Then we will revel into the night, telling of the great deeds seen on the battlefield that day!
This year the Warlord Ascension was pushed into the very fair month of October to accommodate the fighters of St. Brendan's and other colleges, so they can come up here and play with Da'Vikings! It is sure to be quite pleasant and the creek should be warm enough to swim in!
This year as you help us choose our Ceremonial Warleader from any and all who fight bravely Saturday, that night for your entertainment, there will be a torchlight tournament to pick the Northern Mountain Region's Defender, open only to residents of that region. Come join us on the mild coast and help us choose two very important war leaders, both charged with defending the northern borders of the Great Kingdom of the West from the hordes of An Tirians! Lights welcome! The more the merrier! West Kingdom Archery Conventions will apply to all missile combat.
And for those of you who are less violent but still competitive, there will be three warrelated competitions: Most glorious war banner, most revitalizing after-battle meal, and of course, most inspiring war saga. "If not for the glory of war, then what else...?"
The event will be at the same site as last year, which includes flat ground for comfortable camping, shady trees to relax under and a cool creek to swim in after a long day of fun-loving war, (Parents please watch children as there will be no lifeguard available.) There is a working well on site, but bringing drinking water is advised. (A Ray's Food Place is ad acent to the turnoff for supplies.) West Kingdom fire laws will be in effect. Parking will be tight, so please carpool if possible.
