Laguna Grade Park,
From The Page (January, 1997):
Do you feel the need for wicked behavior? If so, come to the Montagne du Roi Penitence Tourney! Slay your fellow fighters! Gorge upon rich food, fit for nobles! Cheer on acts of violence! And when you are done, visit our indulgence booth and be absolved of your heinous crimes for mere pence! Who could ask for more?
The tourney is planned as a double-elimination event (subject to number of participants). Sinfully delightful prizes will be awarded to the best fighter. In addition, we propose five contests to entertain those both on the field of combat and off, including: the tradidonal Best Death, Best Apology to One's Slain Opponent on the Field, Best Display of Grief for One's Slain Lord/Lady, Most Creative Apology, and Best Penance for an Act of Wickedness (perhaps to be applied to the winner of one of the other four contests....)
The site fee is $6.00, and includes lunch at the famous Montaigne du Roi Tavern, where the food is guaranteed to please even the most jaded palate! Lunch will be served buffet-style starting at around noon, but pastries and coffee will be available as early as 9am, If you have special dietary concerns, call Caitlin O'Byrne at (phone). There will, as always, be vegetarian items available.
Laguna Grande park is In a relatively visible area, so all possible medieval display (banners, pavilions, etc.) is encouraged. This is a dry site. There will be no additional fees for merchanting. The site will open at 9am, armor inspecdon at 10am, and fighting will commence around 11am.
