From The Page (February, 1997):
March Crown Tournament will be held at the Colusa Fairgrounds in Colusa, CA, March 21st through the 23rd. The site opens at noon Friday, and closes at 4:00pm on Sunday.
Site Regulations: West Kingdom fire standards will be in effect. West Kingdom quiet hours will be enforced, in deference to our nearby neighbors. There will be showers available. The playground area is OFF LIMITS to all SCAers.
Fighters: List sign-ups will open at 4:00pm Friday afternoon, and close at 10:00 that evening. They will reopen briefly Saturday morning at 8:00am, and will close at 9:00am sharp. Each fighter must bring his membership and fighter authorization cards when he comes to sign up and must know the expiration date of his consort's membership. Plan to sign up Friday if at all possible to avoid the crowd! Each fighter needs a list shield, no larger that 3" wide by 4" long, with a hole drilled 1/4" from the top. Rental shields will be available for $1.00. In addition, all fighters are encouraged to add to the pageantry of the day by bringing and displaying personal banners. The lists will be a standard double-elimination tournament, with all fighters using mass weapons in the 4th round, and great swords in the 6th round. A Tournament of Roses will commence in the 5th round.
Schedule: Saturday: Invocation is tentatively set for 10;30am Saturday morning, and fighting will begin at 11:30. The populace is invited to join Their Majesties for a feast Saturday evening in the hall. Tables will be provided; bring your feast gear and food. Sunday, the Peerage meetings will be held in the hall; 8:30 Chivalry, 9:30 Laurels, 10:30 Pelicans.
Arts & Sciences: Competitions, listed in the front of the Page, will be held at the A&S pavilion on the Eric. These competitions will be the first of the year's Golden Poppy run, the year long Kingdom Arts & Sciences competition and award. Contact the Arts & Sciences officers, listed in the back of the Page, for more information regarding any competitions. The populace is invited to bring any items they've made for an Arts & Sciences Display in the hall, sponsored by Their Majesties. Wooden Spoon entries for the Pottages competition should be brought by fifth round, Check at the A&S pavilion for contest location.
Page School: The Queen's Guard will host a children-only Quest Saturday after the fighting, Some children will also be invited to assist members of the guard during the lists on Saturday.
Target archery will be available — bring your bows!
