The Thirty-first Year

Spring Collegium -- Eskalya

April 12-13, 1997 (AS XXXI)

Anchor Park United Methodist Church,
Anchorage, AK

From The Page (April, 1997):

Saturday: Location: Anchor Park United Methodist Church (Same location as last Fall's Collegium); (address omitted), Anchorage, AK 99508. The site opens at 8:30am, with courses running from 11:00am until 8:00pm, and a one hour lunch break.

At 9:00am all are invited to a Breakfast Court to open this year's first Collegium. University Regents will be available to discuss and answer questions concerning the Eskalyan University System, degree programs, and the like. We will also be participating in the 1st Annual Collegium Passionate Play (sponsored by the Canton). This will be taken from Our Kind Series performed by the Golden Stag Players in Central Kingdom. Anyone can participate as we will be doing walk and talk throughs at this time. It should be both fun and informative, so you don't want to show up late for Collegium and miss breaking your fast with us.

There will also be hands-on activities such as weaving, a 3-D castle puzzle, the Baronial historical picture books and histories, a heraldic consultation table, and there is rumor of a band of gypsies who will be in the are at the time who would like to test your skills against theirs in their Gypsy Gaming Hall. Please bring a canned food donation for entry into the gaming hall.

Sunday: Location: Practicums (practical, hands-on Collegium courses) will be held at various locations throughout the Barony, usually at the instructor's manor, Practicums allow for courses that could not be properly held in the usual classroom environment. Course start and end times are set by the instructors.

There are still openings for Collegium courses, both Saturday and especially Sunday practicums. Please contact one of the regents Baroness Sorcha (phone), or Lord Alfonso d'Strada (phone), now if you are interested in teaching a course!

Other stuff you should know: Meals will be brown bag or basket (bring your own), there are a limited number of electrical hookups available for use in the Main Hall. Hot water and coffee will be provided. There is no childcare offered at this event, so children must be under parental supervision or in an assigned class at all times. Tuition (site fee) is $5,00; this is for both days and does not include and additional material fees that Instructors may require for a course. Advance payment may be sent to: (address omitted). Do not mail cash; make checks payable to SCA Inc.—Barony of Eskalya
