This year Mists Bardic will follow the traditional format but will be in a new location, at the First Baptist Church of Palo Alto. NOTE: This is a dry site. The competition will begin by 2 pm, an hour after the site opens. The feast will be Spanish, prepared by Condessa Juana Isabella de Montoya y Ramirez! Tickets, available from Juana or JuHana, will cost $8.00 through Arts & Sciences weekend 0uly 30) and after that will go for $10.00. Make checks payable to "SCA Inc., Principality of the Mists". Competitors pay half price! Anyone wishing to be off board and anyone interested in competing should contact Juliana.
Speaking of Competition, the order of the day will be:
|Appetizers||Round 1:A period piece (story, song, poem, sung, played,
spoken, etc.) with documentation|
Round 2: An original piece in a period style with documentation
|First Remove||Round 3: Bard's choice- "an original, tasteful, bawdy song"-may
be interpreted as a piece concerning vice, written by
you, that you could perform in front of children or
Round 4: Master work-does not have to be original, but should show off your abilities.
|Second Remove||Round 5: Impromptu-create a piece using 3 words pulled out of a hat. You have 15 minutes (bring writing material).|
