Morgan Hill, CA
From The Page (November, 1995):
Hear ye! Hear Ye! Her Excellency, the Baroness of Darkwood extends an invitation for one and all to come and join in the fun and pageantry of Black and White Masked Ball. For your enjoyment during the day there will be a Masked Tourney (please attempt to disguise armor). Other entertainment includes Mask Making classes (donation of $1,00 requested), period dance instruction, period games; come and relax, bring your needlework etc., and visit with friends.
And then to start off the evening festivities: a potluck feast (5 pm). She would prefer that dishes be provided by legal last names: A-H side dish or salad, I-P main dish or meat, Q-Z cheese and bread or dessert. Please follow SCA tradition of feeding 6-8 people with your contribution.
There will be a culinary contest, for a dish honoring the Baroness. This dish can be your contribution to the potluck. Please be creative. You must enter the contest by giving the documentation for your dish to the Baroness. Gifts will be given to those contestants whose dish most pleases Her Excellency.
Later in the evening (with the donning of masks at 7 pm) we will enjoy the entertainment of the Grande Promenade to show off the wondrous finery that abound in the realm. Prizes will be awarded for the best personally homemade mask. And then the hall will be cleared for dancing.
Site fee: $3.00 per person
