The Thirtieth Year

Collegium Occidentalis

April 13-14, 1996 (AS XXX)

Camp Herms,
El Cerrito, CA

From The Page (February, 1996):

Spring is always a time to try something new. Collegium Occidentalis will be held April 13-14 in the Mists at Camp Herms Boy Scout Camp in the El Cerrito hills. There are some new changes in the tried and true Collegium structure.

First and most obvious. Collegium is trying a move from the mundane university setting to a hopefully best-of-all-worlds site. Taking a cue from the ever-popular Arts and Sciences tournament. Collegium will be trying its grand experiment at a site that has both indoor facilities for classes that require or benefit by having electricity and a classroom setting (and an incredible kitchen for cooking and sciences!) and the less traditional but quite useable format of holding classes at the teacher's camp.

Proving that even an old chancellor can get the clue, work has been divided up between the traditional chancellor structure (one person doing all of the work) and several sub chancellors. The skills and knowledge of the populace will now be sought out by the likes of Viscountess Ascelin Meere of Ravenslock, Mistress Aldith Angharad St. George, Mistress Kaitlin MacPherson, Sir Gareth of Crawford, Mistress Siobhan Maeve O'Rourke, Mistress Siobhan ni Eodheusa, Lord Gwydden Lawen and Lady Fiametta as well as Sir Colin de Bray and the traditional seeker of classes, Mistress Ceridwen MacAoudhegain.

The March and April Pages will have more information on the Collegium itself. If you have any questions or would like to join or help with the Collegium, please contact the chancellor at the address listed in the Page directory.

From The Page (March, 1996):

The spring session of Collegium Occidentalis will happen April 13 - 14 at Camp Herms Boy Scout Camp in El Cerrito, CA. You can set up your camp and enjoy an educational, enjoyable and convenient weekend (if it doesn't rain). The site opens Friday afternoon at 4 pm and closes Sunday afternoon at 5pm. Just to whet your appetite, the following page is a list of the classes that are being offered! We will have a detailed schedule with class descriptions available by March Crown, so you can start making your plans early.
