Gardener's Cove Resort
From The Page (February, 1995):
It's becoming tradition - March Crown at Gardener's Cove Resort near Modesto. This is the third year in a row that March Crown has been held at this site. The water on site is said to be potable, but bringing your own water is recommended. In the past we have encountered spiders and sand fleas, and they seem to be at a minimum in the spring, but please continue to be careful. On site there are a small store, flush privies, and showers. There are lots of trees for shade and the site shouldn't be too dusty in March. The site and the camping area are bordered by the San Joaquin river with steep cliffs; parents must keep track of their children. No swimming is allowed in the river due to quicksand. Pets are allowed on leash only. Kingdom fire rules are in effect - no ground fires, and all raised fires must be watched.
The site fee is $6.00 per person, $2.00 for children 12 and under. Merchants must contact the Merchant's Coordinator (Marcus the Just) to arrange space. Space on Merchant's row will be assigned on a first call, first serve basis. Merchants must also have a California Resale Permit.
Competitions: Arts: Footwear and Literature, an essay on a pertinent period subject. Brewing: Warm drinks. Sciences (Practical): Games - board games, sporting equipment, ete. Sciences (Technical): percussion musical instruments.
Autocrat: Ceinwen ferch Belyn (name/contact info omitted).
