First Sword Tourney -- Esfenn

Unto the populace of the West the Shire of Esfenn invites you to journey to Weekes Park to help us determine who our next First Sword shall be. It is said and proven that being Esfenn's First Sword can lead to greater things. Site fee is $5 per person.

For those who enjoy more peaceful pastimes there is a full slate of activities. Included are jump rope, jacks, a cathedral list, and a Mongala list. Hilary of Serendip will present a lunch time talk on The Philosophy of Heraldry. Dorothea of Caer Myrddin has prepared a quiz on the history of the West Kingdom. From the arts area, there will be a favors competition for both field and court favors. For those who enjoy the field of battle, there will be prize melees insterspaced with the First Sword Tourney. Come and be the first fighters to fight in a Mouse Melee. Can you and your partner protect your captured mice from the CAD Enjoyed the attempt to secure weapons in a Shasta Melee. Speaking of fighting, there is one rule that should be mentioned for the First Sword Tourney; Esfenn First Sword Rules 3.1 - All combatants shall wield a sword and only a sword.

Prizes already gathered include a basket hilt from Horsefriend Armory, a one hour massage from Tess of Elsewhere CMT, a bottle of Apricot Cordial from Gwendolyn the Rat Keeper, and a string of twenty four buttons from the Mongolian General Store, HRM Valgard, Robert of Woodsende, and Falan Bitor have donated one hour each of fighter training. For the new First Sword of Esfenn a 10xl0 sunshade has been donated by Balin the Hunter.

Evening pastimes include a pot luck dinner. Please bring dishes according to the first letter of you last name; A-F main dishes, G-N side dishes; O-S breads, T-Z dess~rts. There is a food competition - mushrooms anything, a table decorating contest with the theme of Late Spring. A toasting competition is also being planned, so stay after the fighting and toast your opponent, or any who you feel is in need of a toast. During the dinner hour the Troubadour of Esfenn competition will take place. Contact the autocrat for more information. And last but not least is the famous dancing of the green until the hall closes at 9:30 p.m.

Site opens at 9 a.m. List sign ups start at 9:30 a.m. with armor inspection at 10 a.m. Fighting and morning activities start at 11 a.m. Lunch is planned from 2 - 3:30. Starting at 1 p.m. there is an open K.H.T.I. meeting. Fighting and afternoon activities will resume at 3:30 The hall opens for set up at 5 p.m.
