Debardchery -- Cloondara

July 9, 1994 (AS XXIX)

Golden Gate Park (Archery Field)
San Francisco, CA

From The Page (June, 1994):

Debardchery! On Saturday, July 9, Cloondara welcomes all to our annual Debardchery Tourney. The site is the archery field in Golden Gate Park. The site opens at 9 a.m.

At 11 a.m., we will hold an Archer's Auction wherein the populace may bid on their favorite archer whose winning score will win a prize for his highest bidder. The IKAC and IKCAC prize competitions begin at 11:30 a.m.; crossbows are not allowed on the field. Other amusements and competitions will include the annual prize bardic competitions, best period dish, and Silver-Tongued Devil. There will be a Pun contest; a tax of 25 cents per pun will be levied with the winner taking all tax proceeds. There will also be a fish-fling (points for style) and a loaf-lob contest (accuracy counts). Other competitions will be announced. We will have activities for children.

The bardic prize competitions will be limericks, storytelling; explain a phenomenon - like how roses got thorns, the robin a red breast, or how unicorns got to have one horn. Also, there will be a pandy instrument competition. Participants can draw their entry; extra points will be awarded for if you make the instrument. The "pandy" of this competition is that the hearers of the instrument would be dangerous to the player (i.e. combination bagpipe and accordion). We welcome anyone to perform even if you do not wish to participate in the competitions.

We will have a potluck picnic. Please bring a dish based on your mundane last name as follows: A-E side dish or salad; F-N main dish; O-Z desserts. If you have a sunshade to share please contact the autocrats. The site can be windy and cool; we suggest you bring additional layers for warmth.

Autocrat: Muirim of Rabbitwood (name/phone).

Site fee will be $5, children under 16 free.
