White Shield Feast and Tournament -- Darkwood

March 4, 1995 (AS XXIX)

La Selva Beach Club House
Mar Monte, CA

From The Page (February, 1995):

In 1449, at Duke Rene of Anjou's Pas d' Armes of La Bergiere, 2 knights dressed as shepherds appeared before the King's mistress who was dressed as a shepherdess tending a flock of sheep. One of the knights carried a black shield for discontentment in love and the other bore a white shield of happiness. In honor of courtly love, honor and chivalry, Baron Wilhehn and Baroness Elizabeth invite all gentle folk to join them on Saturday, March 4th at Darkwood's annual White Shield Tourney &: Feast at LaSelva Beach.

Overall winner of the fists will receive a tourney shield in honor of our "tourney of peace"; and the fighter from the Barony who best pleases the Baron with their prowess and chivalry on the field will be proclaimed Baronial Champion. The Baroness win present the honor of wearing the Baroness's Champion Cloak to the Darkwood fighter who has best displayed honor and chivalry during the past year.

Armor inspection is at 9:30 a.m., followed by a prize melee at 10:00 a.m. The Tournament shall begin at 12:00 noon. List fee: $2.00
