Morgan Hill, CA
From The Page (January, 1995):
Archers! Wax thy strings and straighten thy arrows. Demonstrate thy skills at the Darkwood Winter Archery Tourney, held at Machado School in Morgan Hill on Saturday January 21.
Archers will participate in I.K.A.C and Royal Round competitions to determine the next member of the Baronial Company of Archers and the Champion Archer. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 shooters in each of the 4 guild ranks. Crossbows will be in a special division, so archers can compete with both a crossbow and a handbow. A novelty shoot will test the skills of archers at progressively longer ranges. Some loaner equipment will be available.
The site will open at 9:00 for warmup, and the competition will begin at 10:00. Site fee is $3 per adult, pages are free. The archery activities will end by 5:00 so revelers can attend the Hawkshaven feast (about 10 minutes away).
The Sciences competition is Handmade Candles, and the Arts competition is Woodblock Prints. Everyone is encouraged to display banners to add to the festive atmosphere.
Autocrats: Martin Whistler/Rowan Oldway (names/contact info).
