From The Page (January, 1995):
Are you bummed out because you can't make it to Estrella? Never fear, there is an alternative!!
Come join us on the beautiful Central Coast for a day of fighting, feasting, and fun at the annual Court of Love. Our theme for this year's event is "Poland in Jadwiga" (i.e, Late 1300's Poland).
The day's festivities will begin with a tourney. Lists will open at 9:30 a.m. with fighting beginning as soon as the first two combatants are ready. Fighter contests for the day will include: Best Death, Best Fight, and Most Chivalrous Fighter. The tourney will end at 4:30 p.m. Site fee to attend the tourney is only $2.00.
Other contests for the day include: Arts: Best Sonnet, Poem, or Song of Love; Sciences: Ladies Toiletries (please have your documentation); and Cooking: Period Polish deserts. There will also be a contest for Best Garb Related to the Event Theme, and Best Show of Mourning. All winners will be announced and prizes handed out at the evening's feast. The feast hall will open at 5:00 p.m. with feasting starting promptly at 5:30 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to dress appropriate to the theme, though it is not required. The evening's revelry will also include our annual auction, featuring all sorts of goodies to bid on. Feast tickets are $9.00 for adults, and $5.00 for children 12 and under.
Crash space is available, but please try to contact the autocrat PRIOR to the event to make arrangements. We hope we see you in Borderwinds!!!
Autocrat: Rioghan Longespee (name/contact info).
